Lethbridge Cru Régnié Beaujolais 2022 is a Gamay produced by Lethbridge Wines from Geelong, Australia. The wine marks Ray Nadeson's first venture making wine away from Lethbridge, following an invitation from Beaujolais native and former Lethbridge cellar hand Philippe Viet. It comes from an exceptional parcel of biodynamically farmed, 100-year-old Gamay vines in Cru Régnié. Hand-picked fruit was wild fermented at Domaine Philippe Viet with extended skin contact and gentle cap management, using partial carbonic maceration and a layered ferment incorporating crushed fruit and 20% whole bunches. Following initial maturation in Beaujolais, the wine was transported under temperature control to Geelong to complete its barrel maturation at Lethbridge before bottling in August 2023.

The appearance is a vibrant ruby red with youthful crimson-purple highlights.

The nose is lifted and beautifully perfumed, led by pretty red berries, blossom and floral aromatics, with an almost Nebbiolo-like aromatic lift. Raspberry and cherry tones build with air, giving the wine an expressive combination of fruit purity and floral complexity.

The palate is concentrated yet energetic, with crunchy blueberry, vibrant red berries and juicy Gamay fruit at its core. Freshness and fine structure keep the richer fruit flavours lively, while a touch of cherry-liqueur generosity emerges towards the close. The extended skin contact and partial whole-bunch fermentation contribute texture and savoury dimension without sacrificing the wine's bright, highly drinkable character.

A distinctive, richly flavoured Cru Régnié that brings together century-old biodynamic Beaujolais fruit and Ray Nadeson's unmistakable Lethbridge winemaking approach.
