Torbreck RunRig Shiraz 2023 is an iconic Barossa Valley red from Torbreck Vintners in South Australia, built predominantly around Shiraz with a small component of Viognier. Inspired by the tradition of co-fermenting Syrah and Viognier in the Rhône Valley, RunRig combines exceptional old-vine Barossa fruit with meticulous winemaking and extended maturation to deliver remarkable concentration, aromatic complexity and structure.

Deep, saturated crimson-purple in appearance with an opaque core and youthful vibrancy.

The nose is intensely perfumed and layered, opening with blackberry, black plum, blueberry and dark cherry before revealing violet, lavender and exotic spice. Notes of liquorice, black pepper, dark chocolate and savoury herbs build with air, complemented by subtle smoked meat, cedar and polished oak. The Viognier component contributes additional floral lift and aromatic detail to the powerful Shiraz fruit.

The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and expansive, with dense layers of blackberry, plum and dark berry fruit framed by fine, persistent tannins. Black liquorice, pepper, cocoa, spice and savoury earth add complexity, while fresh acidity provides balance and definition through the rich fruit. The texture is powerful yet polished, carrying impressive depth and persistence without losing composure.
