Yarra Yering Chardonnay 2023 750ml

Yarra Yering Chardonnay 2023 is produced by Yarra Yering in the Yarra Valley, Australia, from Chardonnay vines including the original block planted in 1969 and Clone 95 material planted in 2012. Hand-harvested fruit was chilled overnight and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barriques and 500L puncheons, with 25% new oak. Both wild and cultured yeasts were used, malolactic fermentation was inhibited to retain natural acidity, and the wine matured for 10 months in Yarra Yering's underground cellar.

The appearance is bright light to mid-yellow with youthful clarity.

The nose is distinctive and mineral-driven, showing oyster shell, sea spray and citrus fruit with underlying white peach, apple and subtle nutty complexity.

The palate combines finesse with impressive fruit weight, led by precise grapefruit, crunchy apple and preserved citrus. A slippery, textural quality builds depth and carry, while pithy detail, saline character and a powdery-chalky texture are sharpened by bright natural acidity.
